At Wild Horizons we have set aside a limited number of resident bed nights, so that this rare part of the world is within easier reach of the people who live alongside it. It is the same Victoria Falls the rest of the world travels across the globe to see, offered on the quiet understanding that some of us are fortunate enough to call it home.

Old Drift sits directly on the Zambezi, within the Zambezi National Park, in a handful of luxury tented suites overlooking the mighty river. There is little between you and the wild here – game comes down to drink in front of the lodge, the light shifts across the water through the day, and the river sets the rhythm of everything.
Your suite opens onto its own stretch of the Zambezi, with a private deck to take it in. Mornings begin on safari or on foot; afternoons drift by on the water; evenings settle in around good food and the sounds of the river. It is unhurried, private and quietly luxurious – the kind of place that stays with you long after you are home.

The international market holds fast to the idea that June to October is the only time to come. We know differently. From November into autumn the river country turns green and comes into its own…. migrant birds arrive in their thousands, the light softens to gold before the afternoon storms, and the plains fill with newborns. It is a more private, more considered time to be here, and it happens to fall across our long weekends and school holidays.
Come for a few unhurried days and you may well have the river to yourself.
