The Zambezi Royal Sunset Cruise is a premium experience on the upper Zambezi River, and a front-row seat to one of Africa’s most iconic sunsets. It is the most popular activity in Victoria Falls, and once you have watched the sky change over the water, it is easy to understand why. As the boat drifts along the banks of the Zambezi and Mosi-oa-Tunya National Parks, the day softens, the wildlife comes down to the water, and the river settles into gold.
This stretch of the upper Zambezi, just above the Falls and reaching upstream, is alive at the end of the day. Hippos surface and sink in the shallows, crocodiles rest along the sandbanks, elephants move through the tree line to drink, and the birdlife is constant company. Your cruise captain shares the history and significance of the river as you go, so the journey is as much an introduction to the Zambezi as it is a celebration of it.
The experience is unhurried and generous. Five-star service throughout, hot and cold gourmet canapés, creative cocktails, and a curated selection of premium beverages leave you free to simply settle in and watch. As the wildlife gathers along the banks and the sky erupts into colour, the Royal Sunset Cruise offers the finest way to close an African day, in comfort and in style.
A relaxed two-hour cruise on the calm waters of the upper Zambezi, timed so that the last of the light falls across the river as you sail. You will have the chance to see hippos, crocodiles, elephants and a wealth of birdlife along the water’s edge, all from the comfort of the vessel. Canapés and cocktails are served throughout, and the captain’s presentation adds context to the wildlife and the landscape around you.

Both explore the same beautiful stretch of the upper Zambezi, and both are premium experiences… the difference is the occasion. The Zambezi Royal Sunset Cruise is a two-hour late-afternoon cruise built around the sunset, with gourmet canapés, cocktails and premium beverages as the light falls across the river. The Malachite Dinner Cruise carries the evening further, with dinner served on the water beneath the African night sky. The sunset cruise is the classic golden-hour experience; the dinner cruise turns the river into the setting for a full evening out.
